Europeans to build largest telescope ever in Chile

According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf ESO has decided today to build a mega telescope in Chile. The European Extremely large Telescope (E-ELT) is to be build on top of the 3 kilometer high Mount Cerro Armazones in the Andes where circumstances are most favourabele for a telescope like this. The E-ELT should be operable around 2018
